Opportunity to Meet City and County Planning Staff Members

2nd of Three Planning Sessions to Describe Long-Term Vision

If you have ever wanted to help shape your community’s future, now is the time to get involved. By law, every city and county in Washington state is about to undergo a two-to-three-year planning process called the “Comprehensive Plan” update which will result in a ten-year plan that describes the long-term vision for growth, infrastructure, and services for that jurisdiction. The resulting plan articulates a series of goals and policies intended to guide the day-to-day decisions of elected officials and staff.

On Wednesday August 17 at the Rose Garden Shelter, Squaxin Park, the LWV TC is cohosting an event where you can talk with members of the planning staff at our cities and Thurston County. Thurston Climate Action Team is the other cohost for the Comprehensive Plan Introduction with City and County Planning Staff. Christine Chaput, Thurston County Community Planning Manager, will share plans for community participation in the 2023-24 Thurston County Comprehensive Plan Update process.

Following that introduction which applies to all residents, participants will participate one of 4 sessions to learn the plans for Olympia, Tumwater, Lacey or elsewhere in the county. There will be plenty of time for asking questions of the county and city staff.

The outdoor session is scheduled from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, rain or shine. Fine to wear a mask.
