The candidate forums are a wrap! We started off on September 17 with North Thurston School Board at the Lacey Timberland Library. On September 27 we filmed our studio forums for Lacey City Council, Tumwater Mayor, and Port of Olympia. We finished up at the Olympia Library with the Olympia City Council and School Board. We collaborated with Thurston Community Media and the NAACP of Thurston County.
All the videos are posted on our website and please share them widely on social media! An important aspect of our forums is ensuring the videos are available to our community, so they have the information they need to cast an informed vote.
I am so incredibly thankful to all the volunteers who helped make the forums a success. Our volunteers did everything from timekeeping and moderation to hosting and proofreading and everything in between.
Looking forward, we are organizing a short-term ad hoc committee consisting of four or five individuals to draft an updated policy for our candidate forums. With robust policies, we can enhance the influence of our forums but will also help our entire League by increasing our visibility in the community.
